The administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is prioritising the safety of young Nigerians on the roads through strategic collaboration between the Ministry of Youth Development and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC). This initiative aims to tackle the alarming rate of road accidents involving young people by combining government resources, youth engagement strategies, and public awareness campaigns.
Under the leadership of Minister of Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, and FRSC Corps Marshal, Mr. Shehu Mohammed, the partnership will focus on designing targeted programmes that directly address risky driving behaviours common among youths. These campaigns will emphasise preventive measures, such as adherence to traffic rules, avoidance of speeding, and the dangers of drunk driving.
The collaboration also seeks to empower young Nigerians with the knowledge and skills to become advocates for road safety within their communities. By integrating road safety education into youth development initiatives, the government intends to create a cultural shift towards safer road usage, thereby reducing casualties and enhancing public safety nationwide.
This effort aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s broader vision of safeguarding lives, protecting the nation’s human capital, and ensuring that Nigerian youths can contribute productively to the economy without the threat of preventable road tragedies. It reflects a proactive approach to addressing a pressing public safety issue through partnership, education, and sustained advocacy.
